The Iconic turns 7, hires new CEO

7 years ago, no one in fashion would have imagined that The Iconic would be where it is today in the retail world. The company started off very shakey with a loss leading strategy that threatened to drown the company many times. The company chases growth and customers at the expense of customers.
This strategy led to the company requiring numerous top ups of funding and a strong stomach from it’s investors.

7 years later, the company is celebrating it’s 7th birthday and has announced that it has shipped over 13 million products since it launched. It also gave some interesting statistics that their customers now spent double the time on the site than they did seven years ago, a testament to the quality and useability of the site.
Users have also spend 440,000 days browsing the site in 2018 which is equivalent to 1,100 years.

Further to the stats, the company now has over 1000 brands featured on the site. The most popular category of product in the site are shoes with the all time best selling product being the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Ox.

Other strong product lines include jeans and tshirts.

To add to the excitement, The Iconic this week announced a new CEO. Erica Bertchtold will join The Iconic in February 2019, leaving her Super Retail Group. Bertchtold will take over from Patrick Schmidt who has been CEO since 2013.
