The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme pits young entrepreneurs against each other to develop products and services which they market and sell.
Administered by the Young Enterprise Trust, the competition involves young people, teachers and business people setting up a company. The students then become directors and develop business plans to get their company off the ground.
Each year students get to test their products and services at a trade fair. In 2010, the trade fair took place on 7 and 8 August at The Palms Shopping Centre. View photos of the teams and the stalls on The Pulse flickr.
The programme gives young people the opportunity to develop a wide range of business skills.
It is supported at the local level by regional co-ordinators who find business mentors for each company, arrange directors' seminars, trade fairs, oral and end-of-year presentations, and teacher/mentor training.
