Held to celebrate the end of the last school holidays, Night at the New Brighton Library was a chance for local youth to get together for a bit of entertainment.
First, the group challenged library staff members Nicole, Laura and Brindi to beat them on PlayStation’s SingStar.
Abiel, one of our legendary youth workers, was awesome! He also showed off some wicked freestyle dance moves and it turns out some others — including Jade and Shaun — are pretty amazing, too.
Everyone had a go on one of the gaming consoles the library was experimenting with — the Xbox 360 Kinect.
To have a break from gaming, some people made zines. Zines are personal magazines which you can make from scratch or use magazine content to make your own one. Some people were very clever and made really funny ones. Some people just love Michael Jackson and had images of him mixed in with their own cool stuff.
Early on we had a pizza break but what everyone loved most was having the library completely to themselves. It gave the local youth something new to do in the school holidays.
We want to do more of these nights so keep an eye on our events calendar for more library nights!
