Stage Challenge The ASB Stage Challenge® gives schools the chance to show off their performing talent.
The 2011 event in Christchurch took place at the CBS Arena.
(The RAW division does not feature large sets)
ASB Stage Challenge® is part of the Global Rock Challenge™ - a global effort to encourage young people to make the best choices they can. The concept was introduced into New Zealand in 1993 and travels nationwide.
An entry is an original piece of work involving dance, design and drama which reflects the personalities, concerns, hopes, dreams and interests of those who create it. Each performance runs between five and eight minutes, set to music. Each team has up to 140 members.
A panel of industry specialists judge the performances and there are awards in the categories of performance, production, costumes, make-up and set design, student achievement, school community support, school initiative, Te Puutake Pacifica culture, environment/social awareness, stage crew, lighting design and the Spirit of the Stage Challenge®.
