Innocent eyes is a remarkable song written by delta to her boyfriend. It shows a lot of compassion it is an absolutely amazing song and tells us alot about those innocent eyes.
I recommended this song as it is very popular at my school at the moment and everyone seems 2 be singing it. It makes you realise what delta has been through with hodgkins disease and what has helped her through her struggle and heartbreak. I think Delta is very inspiring with what she's been through.

indestructable… how can I say been there, heard that before… I am a HUGELY disappointed by the lack of new material. It’s a good cd if your into the same old sounds and same similer lyrics then it would be your perfect cup of tea. With the promise of new music from an ultimately amazing band I rushed out to get the newly raved about cd. Big mistake I got more pleasure from listening to previous cd’s such as 10,000 fists or the sickness. Out of ten it gets a low 4/10 now that’s a shocker for a good band

It's hard to follow up the record that made you famous, but these talented Canadian twins have clearly out-done themselves this time and even managed to grow a little as musicians in the process. The Con boasts beautifully crafted and heartfelt, detailed love songs, which also contain elements of dark , angsty and deep lyrics.
The girls in the past have written almost the same type of songs seemingly focused on relationships and love and perhaps a change in subject would be refreshing, however, the sharp and powerful vocals are truly amazing.
Tegan and Sara have an interesting and unique approach to their song writing techniques, as opposed to other bands which write their lyrics and music together. Typically, one twin will draft the piece, go online and send to the other twin an mp3 file containing a rough outline of the potential track as Tegan currently resides in Vancouver, while Sara in Montreal. The distance between the sisters comes across faintly in The Con as there is a contrast between the urgent, catchy and upbeat tracks such as "Back In Your Head" or "Relief Next To Me" and the slow moving, quieter melodies such as "Floor Plan" and "Call It Off" The tracks on the album compliment each other beautifully, and from start to finish create a long rhythmic flow as opposed to a bunch of singles thrown together and packaged as an album without any real attention to detail.
A negative point however, would be the instrumental pieces which at times drown out the beautiful lyrics. This is clearly co-producer Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cuties' influence. The focus on guitars and other percussion instruments is creative but at times clumsy and annoying, an example of this would be within the first track "I Was Married" and a little in "Burn Your Life Down." The Con also features other talented musicians including, Matt Sharp of The Rentals, Hunter Burgan of AFI, Kaki King and Jason McGerr also from Death Cab.
"Back in Your Head" has already been released in New Zealand and I'm eager to see which single will be released next. I'd have to say my favorites among the album would be the more edgy or darker songs. "The Con" the title track is a catchy song with great lyrics "Nobody likes me, maybe… If I cry? Encircle me, I need to be, taken down…" While "Dark Come Soon" and "Soil, Soil" are more soft sounding, yet strong, complex and emotive lyrics at their best, such as "I drive around the block and I'm not looking to my right. I feel the glass against my cheek and I can't see you in the light. I break my heart around this…" or "Oh and I'm feeling directionless yes, but that's to be expected and I know that best."
The hard work has clearly paid off in this album; Rolling Stone Magazine awarded The Con with four out of five stars in their review, commenting "Tune seekers will admire many of these songs." The album was awarded four stars by SPIN Magazine. The DVD "The Con, The Movie" contains a documentary-type film showing the twins and their producers creating the album. The twins also give their personal opinions on numerous occasions, including fighting over which songs should get cut, why, and what to call their record. I think the additional video available is a positive feature, it shows the twins more humorous side and gives the viewer a chance to hear the meanings behind the tracks and see how the album as it is formed.
The Con is a big and bold step forward from their previous work, in my opinion. "So Jealous" (the record which solidified the twins' presence in the industry) is full of pop and soft rock ballads which compared to The Con appear quite simple and definitely aren't on the same level of excellence as their new work.
Tegan and Sara have evolved and set the standard of quality Indie/Pop/Punk/Rock music extremely high.
